As the Chief Executive Officer of BeMoRe, Renée is leading account management for client services and providing the strategic direction of BeMoRe's public initiatives, communities and priorities. Renée is serving as the Senior Editor of National Healthcare Decisions Day and as a leader in the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Community.
Renée previously worked as the Vice President of Business Development and Public Engagement at KLXmedia with award winning medical blogger,Christian Sinclair, MDand BeMoRe's Director of Operations,Jessica Sachs. Renée co-founded a weekly interdisciplinary forum on hospice and palliative medicine with Christian in July 2010(#hpm TweetChat). Renée also co-founded the Health Care Social Media Silicon Valley (hcsmSV) community.
Prior to entering the startup world, Renée worked as a Hospice Volunteer Manager where she directed recruitment, retention, training, assignments and all aspects of the volunteer services department for the San Francisco Bay Area. She also developed processes and communications for the organization's first Integrative Therapy Department.
At Stanford Hospital Renée co-managed an in-home emergency response program where she evaluated senior home safety for the hospital's outpatient geriatric health services and facilitated hospital and clinic education about geriatric community resources. Renée consulted seniors and their adult children about the feasibility of senior independence at home and implemented a program initiative for increased continuity in advance directive communications processes. Also at Stanford Hospital, Renée served on the first team of Emergency Department Patient Services Representatives while the position was being piloted for service excellence. She directed mediation & navigation services for patients and families for improved communication for Stanford's level I trauma center.
Renée has also worked for many years as a swim instructor and aquatics program coach at Fremont Hills Country Club in Los Altos, California. She also served as the Attendance Coordinator and as a Substitute Teacher at the Saint Francis High School Summer Program in Mountain View, California.
Renée Berry received a B.S. in social sciences with a concentration in criminal justice at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Renée completed her thesis on Hospice In Prisons after being inspired by the inmate hospice volunteers who led her on a tour of the local State Prison, the California Men's Colony. She minored in psychology and held internships with Hospice Partners of the Central Coast and the Elder Abuse Unit of Victim Witness Department of the San Luis Obispo District Attorney’s Office.
